RRND Club Trial February 29th at Horam East Sussex.

Reigate and Redhill North Downs MCC held their February Club Trial at Horam in East Sussex on Sunday on a bright but cold day with the forecast snow showers holding off until the end of the day. A good entry of some 40 riders enjoyed three courses around this pleasant area. The late snowfall only caused the tail-enders any problems and will teach them to get a move on in future!

Eric Clarke rode at the front of the field, leaving his rivals to their own devices, and took the win on 58 marks lost from Stuart Read on 76 marks. Pat Lloyd-Jacob flew back from his skiing holiday the previous day and appeared to be suffering from a bit of jet lag whilst taking a hard earned third place.

Antony Read won the Blue route with familiar ease, but only on most cleans as guest rider Brett Norris dropped the same number of marks. Lewis Taylor is improving fast and had a great ride, after a shaky start, to finish on just 14 marks lost - shame about the 11 marks lost in the first three sections!

The red route saw an unbeatable clean performance from Ian Miller, closely followed by another young rising star – Karl Wooster, who dropped just two marks. Keith Cross had a good ride as did Stan Metcalf showing the youngsters a thing or two on his Royal Enfield.
