The Old Codger

We have come up against some problems with the arrangements for the Codger..

Initially we decided to run the trial on 6th April as it's the traditional time of the year for the Codger. Secondly we've had to cancel it in the last two years due to the MoD and Foot & Mouth and we wanted to re-instate it asap. As, due to reasons beyond our control, Hungry Hill is now only available from October to February we decided to go for Bagshot Heath this year with Hungry Hill pencilled in for October 2004.

However, Bagshot Heath is not really suitable for the 200+ riders and we used to get at the Codger and we have come to realise that to be fair to all we would have to accept riders on a first come basis. This would probably mean we would have had to disappoint some of those regular Codgers riders from the past. It might also pose difficulties in getting enough riders in each of the five classes to make them viable. However we decided to limit the numbers we risk alienating some regular riders who might not return when we arrange a larger Codger, which would be a shame.

With all this in mind we have now decided to postpone the trial until Sunday 5th October and hold it at Hungry Hill. We don't want the delay but in the long run we believe it will be better for the trial, the riders and the club.
