Well here we are again, another month and another newsletter and with Summer well and truly upon us we have a packed one for July. Looking back at June, we started with the Quaife team trial at Crowborough in Sussex on Sunday 1st. RRND had two teams (six riders) entered for the event, each team comprising of a Novice, Intermediate and Expert with all three riders tackling just one route. Myself along with family and Keith Cross went along to give support and get some pics for the Newsletter. Unfortunately we didn’t win but the boys had a good day with some excellent riding, full report on pages 11 to 13.

On Wednesday 11th June we had the first evening trial of 2003, and what a turn out of riders (31 to be precise) supported by family and pets. This was a superb evening with some good sections laid out for all those riding, plus the bonus of an excellent BBQ for all to enjoy afterwards (a big thank you to Jan and Shelley for all their hard work on the cooking front). And don’t worry if you missed out first time, there is another opportunity to take part in some great riding with fine cuisine on Wednesday 9th July and Wednesday 6th August. Next came the Club trial at Birchanger on 22nd June. This was a new venue for RRND and what a day that was. Pete and Derek had laid out the sections on a sunny Saturday afternoon, but after some heavy showers overnight they had their work cut out easing back some of the sections on Sunday morning. As per Eric’s write up last month, it was a very nice piece of land with some good sections and plenty of banks to climb, but with the conditions being rather wet and humid it was a tough trial. Unfortunately there was no yellow route as it was thought a bit too difficult between sections for a yellow rider, in fact, some of the routes were a little tougher than some of the sections. However, a yellow route will be included at July’s Club Trial on 27th at Rome Woods (subject to weather conditions).

To end the month we had the Club road run to Wales that was kindly organised by Pete Jenkins who I’m sure will submit some interesting tales for next months Newsletter. Also over the same weekend was the ‘Motorcycle World’ show at Beaulieu, see my report on page 5. So there we are, June has long gone, but don’t despair, July and August are almost as busy. With two more evening trials still to come and the camping weekend at Dunsfold over the August bank holiday weekend, there’s plenty to look forward to. So get your booking forms that are enclosed with this issue filled out and sent in. Have a good July.
