Evening Trial 13 July at Don Barretts.

As our evening trials are just for fun and there are no championship points at stake the committee have decided to try out an alternative scoring method for this trial. The mechanics of this are:-

  1. Sign on but do not choose a route.
  2. Go to section one and look at all three route, red, blue & white, and decide which is the hardest route you think you can CLEAN.
  3. Ride your chosen route.
  4. If you dab even once, stop, fall off, do anything but clean, you get a ZERO.
  5. If you clean the section you score 1 if you rode the reds, 3 for blues and 5 for the whites.
  6. Go on to the rest of the sections and at each choose your route, red, blue or white.
  7. You may ride different routes at any section on any lap.
  8. The highest possible score is 5 whites cleaned x 6 sections x 3 laps = 90.
  9. You win the trial if you have the HIGHEST score.
  10. Compare your score with those of other riders.

This system has the added element of choice based on your belief in your riding skills. If a usual white route rider sticks to the whites he may dab etc on every section and score nothing whereas his mate who is his equal in skill may beat him by choosing a few red or blue route sections and scoring a 1 or a 3 on those. If a rider consistently chooses sections which are too hard to clean he’ll get zero points and will be beaten by a rider who gets a 1 by cleaning just one red route section.

After the trial we look forward to your comments around the Bar-B-Q. If enough of you turn up, enjoy yourselves, and want us too, we may do it again.
