Dinner Dance

I find the situation so very odd! Every year we have a really good social dinner dance yet it always seems to be an effort to get it on the move. This year the effort was put in by Pat LJ and what a smashing evening we all had. Good food. an after dinner speaker, prizes (especially the socket set) and a disco. Mind you even that gave Patrick a worrying time. I understand that the original disco pulled out at the last minute for some reason giving Pat the task of filling his space. Despite the new choice being flu stricken he put on a good show and the floor was soon filled with 'hoppers'.

I was one of those in favour of an after dinner speaker, plus the fact that Mike Jackson is a friend, but I will be one of the first to admit that it was not a screaming success. Most of the events Mike spoke about probably went straight over the head of the none biking diners. Nonetheless I am still convinced it was well worth the try. It was also pleasing to meet his partner Gwen White, who back in the 50s rode in the Scottish Six Day Trial among her many other achievements. For many of us the evening disappeared far to quickly, time to find hats and coats came too soon. however spys inform me that one or two characters were still holding up the bar at 4am next morning, or were they just up early for breakfast - we will never know the truth! Thanks from us all Pat.
