Chairman's Chatter

"December"

Winter will soon be here so please remember that we run a Star Group Trial at Don Barrett's in December. We will need at least 15 Observers and helpers, the more the merrier, so please put this event in your diaries. For our newer members this is your chance to act as an observer at an official ACU South Eastern Centre Trial and to see a number of really good riders, (like me), demonstrate their prowess.

"Bank Holiday"

The camping weekend is over for another year. Although we helped a bit with the arrangements Sue and I were not able to be there this time, but from the reports I have heard a good time was had by one and all. If this includes you then I have no doubt that you would like me to thank everyone who helped with the many arrangements, especially Bruce Clarke as without his enthusiasm, effort and time the event would probably not happen. The committee will as usual review how things went and if we can improve things next time, so if you have a view on this please let us know. For example, were the new toilets arrangements satisfactory, do you have any ideas for next years Saturday night entertainment?

"Social Events"

I always feel the Bank Holiday camping weekend is the height of the club's yearly social round and its passing marks the end of our annual social events. So planning next years activities starts now.

In this respect the questions the committee has to ask itself are, do we want a dinner dance, how do we want to present this years trophies, how many evening trials do we run, do we run another camping weekend, how do we fund these activities, what venues should we use, what dates are possible, should we put on any other events such as walks, go karting, gliding and ride outs?

We will be making decisions on these matters during the next two committee meetings so if you want your views to be taken into account please talk to a committee member or write to the Secretary.

"A week in Spain"

Next year I am considering arranging a touring ride in Spain including Andorra and the Pyrenees, travelling down overnight through France on a transporter train. Another trip may be to the World War One battlefields and related sites in Flanders and the Somme. If you might be interested in either of these tours please let me know.
