French World Round Trials

Lads, this w.e event was closer than the British round, at Ben Nevis, so there was no reason not to go, was there?

Hotel in Rennes booked, Varadero oil and tyres checked, ferry reservations made, Britany ferries Portsmouth to Caen , out Friday am, back Monday afternoon, no rush to work for us seniors!

Trial location, Breal Sous Montfort was just s/w of Rennes, French Federation owned site. Basically a giant hole in the ground full of interesting rock formations, or sections, as us trial enthusiasts prefer. We were sharing Hotel with the new Ossa works team. I can reveal that Fajardo may well be the next superstar, but he will have no teeth left at age 30. Four sachets of sugar in one cup of coffee, please!

These pictures are a small sample of the 2 days action. Just study picture 5, those are ends cards on that cliff top. French contender Loris Gubian got great support from noisy crowd, and why wouldnt he. Brits in the World class did not shine apart from Jack Challoner who looks a real prospect. Alexz Wigg was struggling with form and a bike that was in no way comparable to Cabestanys works model, which was superb.

Did I mention the blue skys, constant sunshine, french cuisine and scenery? No of course I bl**dy didnt, this isnt a travel report!
